Writing Micro-Fictions + Flash Stories (Teen Workshop)
Flash prose stories are highly compressed narratives ranging from 500 to 1500 words that can tell a complete and satisfying story. They're fun to read and write and are excellent vehicles for creative experimentation since they require less time to produce than full-length narratives. We'll delve into fiction and creative non-fiction flash forms, drawing inspiration from acclaimed authors like Jamaica Kincaid, Mahreen Sohail, and Ira Sukrungruang. Participants will write their own complete flash prose stories, respond to unique prompts, and have an optional opportunity to share their creations for constructive feedback within a supportive community.
This session is for teens and is recommended for ages 14-18.
Date and time:
Sunday, December 17, 11 am - 12:30 pm
Location:
Granville Center for the Arts
